work vignettes.

We have a spot for a driver's license number on all of our new client forms.
I commonly get asked, "Do you need my license number?"
No, that field is just there for you to leave blank.
...
Yes, we need your license number.

I like when people come into the office and don't come up to the counter at all.
(By saying 'like', I'm being sarcastic.)
Please come tell us who you are and why you're here.
Announcing your arrival is good practice.

We had a really nice man come in today.
He pronounced window like "win-der".
He was really sweet and it made me smile.

People sometimes have a hard time finding us.
We are kind of back off the road, but it's really not that difficult.  People don't seem to understand Google Maps.
(I actually just Google Maps'ed us, it gives a very accurate location.)
We'll often get calls from people on the road, lost.
It's usually not too bad, but we got one call -- actually, a few -- from a woman last week that was a directional nightmare.
She actually drove past us once and ended up on the wrong side of town.
I think she called a total of five times.  And was about 45 minutes late.
One time when she called I asked her where she was, and she said "Near the CVS".
...
Do you know how many CVS'es there are in this town?
We finally had to hold her hand and stay on the phone with her for about 10 minutes to direct her there.
Maybe it's just me, but I like to know where I'm going before I head out on the road. :)

On another note, our Halloween Horror Nights weekend was absolutely amazing.  It was like nothing I'd ever experienced!  So much fun, very scary; Universal Studios really knows how to do it right.  Can't wait to go back next year. :)  We went in a big group of 9 people, so it was 9 times as fun.  I definitely got scared, the haunted houses were super creepy!

i know, it's still september.

I was browsing through some old photos recently on my laptop. I had almost forgotten that last Halloween, I had taken some fun "Halloweenie" pictures of things around the house with my old point and shoot.

There's more than these... but I had a lot of fun taking them. I think I'll do something similar this year. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I think because of the darkness and spookiness of it all... :)

This year to celebrate Halloween we are going to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights next weekend. I am SO excited to be able to participate in a festivity that isn't a skanky costume party. I've wanted to attend this for a while, and I can't wait to have the crap scared out of me. We are going with a group of about 10 people as well, so we'll have 10 times as much fun.

Matt and I are making Halloween-related mix CD's for the drive down. I have a lot of great music, so much I may have to make two CD's! I'll post the tracklistings here when I'm done. They will be less Monster Mash, and more Rob Zombie. :)
