goodies.

This weekend was our little town's yearly Riverfest. I love Riverfest; they block the streets off by the Cape Fear river and it's a big street fair with vendors, food, music, and fun stuff. All of the vendors are local, with a few from South Carolina, because we are pretty close. :) We got some absolutely amazing chili mix there last year, along with some fantastic salsa, so we got up early this morning and headed out in search of more.

Yay! Cape Fear Salsa is the BEST I've had; we've had this one and the smoky mesquite salsa. They had a new dill jalapeno salsa that was also amazing, it was a nice mix of sweet & spicy tastes. I like to sample them all, but I couldn't handle the super spicy salsa... too much for me!

We found the tent that sold us chili last year... but they didn't have it this year! Ack! We talked to the folks behind the counter and they actually -did- have it, but they didn't have enough to actually put out & sell so they had left it in the truck. They were super sweet and told us to come back in an hour, so they could run to the truck and get us a package. :) They also had a lot of amazing dip & soup mixes, and they have a website, so I can purchase said dips in the future... muahaha... I'm happy to give them my business, because not only are they local, but they were super accommodating when they found out we loved their chili mix, and ran to grab us one. :)

Sweet, sweet barbecue sauce. Mama Lou's is actually made right here in Wilmington (yahoo!) and is SO sweet, spicy and smooth. I'd never heard of it before, but I'm sold now. The Nephew's BBQ on the right had about 6 different types of sauce, but the Ghostly Pumpkin was my favorite... I know it sounds weird, pumpkin barbecue sauce? But it's really smoky and understated and you can check it out at nephewsbbq.com. ;) (Their nuclear sauce, the Angry Nephew, was a little much for me... yowwow.)

Not bought at Riverfest! ;) Matt loves seasonal beers. I just like to take photos of them. See that one on the right? This is why it's amazing...

The hordes of mini pumpkins in the army behind Magister Pumpkin were too good to pass up. I like how they all have different oddities of facial expressions.

The moment I saw the pumpkin BBQ sauce, I said to myself that I wish I could actually try it! It sounds really yummy. I love the taste of fall flavors. Also? Those ales look amazing! Hail the Pumpkin King! (HHN in T-Minus 3 days! EE!)
